A Presence A Day: Homemade Hot Chocolate: Day 2

Here is a great recipe for a wonderful Hot Cocoa/ Hot Chocolate!  You can put these in jars or Ziploc bags.  Just add a tag and you have a great gift to give a neighbor, friend, husband, coworker, stranger, etc. (yes I am rambling!)

Hot Cocoa Mix
recipe courtesy of the Motherload

4 cups nonfat dry milk powder
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup non-dairy coffee creamer
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 (4 ounce) package instant chocolate fudge pudding

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. If a finer consistency is desired, you can pour the mix into a blender or food processor and run it through that. Store in an airtight container. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup (depending on your cocoa preference) of the mix to an 8 ounce mug of boiling water.

While making this, here is a nice passage to think upon:

John 4:
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to DRINK.

8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

Jesus asked for a DRINK.  The Samarian woman was shocked because Jesus asked a drink from her,a Samaritan, and he was a Jew.  Jesus then told her if she knew who she was talking to, she would ask of God to give HER a DRINK, a DRINK of LIVING WATER.  I love how Jesus is.  He asked her for a drink, making her feel of service, of worth.  This, of course shocked her, that he would even talk to her.  Jesus goes on to show her, if she asks of God, she could have a drink too...a drink of LIVING WATER.  What an invitation..What a friend!  Jesus makes a request of her and he doesn't leave her empty-handed!  He wants to give her something too!

Are we like her too?  Shocked when we hear the gentle voice of God...Shocked further when he asks us for a drink?  Then he turns his request around and he GIVES us a DRINK instead!  He is so great!  What a man!

When making your gift, you are giving a drink to your friend..Don't neglect to let them know of a DRINK that will never run drive...a drink of LIVING WATER!

A verse to add to your tag of Hot Cocoa/Hot Chocolate:

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Directions: Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup (depending on your cocoa preference) of the mix to an 8 ounce mug of boiling water.

God Bless Your Christmas!
